Burkett Oil Company was founded by Robert H. Burkett, Sr. (“Bob”) in December, 1976.  Bob began his career with Standard Oil Company in 1955 working in the warehouse. 

Over his twenty-five year career with Standard Oil of Kentucky (later purchased by Chevron)), he worked his way up to become a member of the sales force, then city manager, and finally agency supervisor.  In late 1976, Chevron granted Bob the first full-line marketership in Atlanta and Burkett Oil Company opened its doors for business in January, 1977. 

Bob’s two sons Ronnie and Hugh came to work for Burkett Oil in May, 1977 and December, 1978, respectively.  Ronnie began as a truck driver and has served many functions over the years including warehouse supervisor, dispatcher, and is now co-owner and Secretary/Treasurer. 

Hugh came to work for Burkett after leaving his career as a Civil Engineer at Georgia Power Company to become a lubricants salesman for the company.  Hugh is currently co-owner and President of Burkett Oil Company.  Hugh also serves as First Vice Chairman of the Georgia Oilmen’s Association and is a committee member for the American Society for Testing and Materials organization.

Burkett Oil Company has proudly served metro Atlanta for over 30 years. The genuine family owned and operated business model allows us to provide first class service to our ever growing customer base.
